Too meaty and too thin

Succulents, of course, look good only when they are plump and juicy. For the same species, if someone else has thick leaves and you have thin leaves, they certainly look different.

It is already late May, and it is almost the most difficult time for succulents. If they cannot grow fat now, they may not survive the summer.

The most timely way now is to add extra food (fertilizer) to the meat, so that it can quickly fatten up and accumulate nutrients so that it can survive the summer well.

Add peanut shells

Succulents are relatively small, and many homemade flower fertilizers are too concentrated, which will burn the roots of succulents. Therefore, you should choose a breathable and thin fertilizer. Peanut shells are a good choice.

1. Peanut shells have regular fibers and are breathable. They are also very good organic fertilizers. Dry the shells and crush them.

2. You can add it to the bottom of the pot when you change the pot. If you don’t need to change the pot, you can sprinkle it on the soil surface. It is breathable and can act as organic fertilizer.

3. Diligent flower lovers can also mix peanut shells with soil and cover it for one month to make organic nutrient soil. If you use this soil on succulent plants, they are guaranteed to grow!

Add bone meal

Bone meal is a very good phosphorus fertilizer. Some flower lovers' succulents have just finished blooming, so they must be supplemented with phosphorus fertilizer, otherwise their resistance will decrease and they will wilt when it gets a little hot.

Soak the leftover broken bones in water for 2-3 hours to remove the saltiness and grease, then dry them. The dried bones are easy to crush.

Flower lovers who find it troublesome can directly use a wall-breaking machine to grind it into bone powder, which is more delicate and better absorbed by succulents.

a. When repotting succulent plants, add some bone meal to the soil.

b. Sprinkle it directly in the pot soil. The succulent pot is small and shallow. Digging up the soil and burying bone meal in it can easily damage the roots. Sprinkle it on the soil surface and water it so that it can penetrate.

Lava stone

Many flower lovers think that the weather is hot and they always water their succulents, which not only makes them grow too long, but also causes the risk of waterlogging and black rot.

Generally, the new soil in spring is almost hardened by now (succulents use less soil and harden quickly), which is not conducive to summering.

We can choose a more breathable potting soil and add some volcanic rocks. They have many small holes on the surface, which are highly breathable and conducive to the breathing of the roots of succulents.

Volcanic rocks are formed by volcanic eruptions and contain many mineral elements. After being absorbed by the roots of succulent plants, their reproduction ability is stronger.

Some experts directly use a whole piece of volcanic rock to grow succulents. Please note: If you use stones to plant succulents, keep them moist and water them every 2-3 days. Control the watering when the succulents enter the dormant period.

Baked eggshells

Huahua has mentioned before that eggshells can be used as fertilizer for succulents, but time is urgent now, so if you take one more step, you can make the succulents grow fat quickly!

1. If you have an oven at home, you can bake it directly. Preheat it to 200 degrees and bake it for 5 minutes. If you don't have an oven, you can just fry it in a hot pan. Stir-frying over high heat for 5 minutes is enough.

2. The baked egg shells smell bad, but they will be gone after a while. It doesn’t matter if they are burnt.

3. Crush the eggshells after they have cooled down. Whether they are baked or fried, they are very brittle and will break into pieces with a slight press.

4. Just like adding bone meal, you can mix it into the soil when repotting, or you can sprinkle it directly on the soil surface. With such a good nitrogen fertilizer, it is impossible not to grow fat.

Peel fertilizer

Huahua has previously taught you how to make fruit enzymes as flower fertilizers. Succulents are small and don’t need such heavy fertilizers. Let’s simplify it and make a simple version of fruit fertilizer.

1. Cut the remaining peels into small pieces and put them in a discarded water bottle.

2. Add water, then place it on the windowsill or balcony, occasionally unscrew the lid to let it breathe, and it will only have a sour and sweet taste.

3. It will be ripe after fermenting for 3 weeks. Mix fertilizer and clean water at a ratio of 1:1000 to water the succulents, and the succulents will become plump and shiny immediately!
