How to propagate golden sedge

Cutting propagation

Golden Spartina has a strong ability to reproduce, and branch propagation is the simplest but longest-lasting method.

In spring or autumn, select sturdy branches of golden sphenanthera, cut them directly, and place them on the surface of breathable soil. No watering is needed. After 3 to 5 days, the cut ends will be basically healed. At this time, you can spray the surface of the potting soil to keep the soil surface slightly moist, which is more conducive to rooting.

After the branches take root, they can be given sufficient water and will slowly enter a growth state. It takes 1 to 2 months from rooting to normal growth.

Propagation by division

Division is usually done when the plant is just purchased and planted, or when the pot is changed and the soil is changed. Flower lovers are reminded not to divide plants just for the sake of dividing them, so as to avoid excessive effort and the death of the mother plant.

The method of division is relatively simple. After removing the plant from the pot, just break up the clustered plants with your hands and plant them separately. Be careful not to plant too deep. The number of plants placed on each plant can be controlled flexibly without limit. A small handful of golden spatholobi will soon fill the pot.

Precautions

The best time to propagate golden sphenanthera is in spring and autumn, because the temperature is relatively low at this time, and golden sphenanthera grows rapidly. Whether it is division or branch cuttings, it will take root quickly and will not die halfway.

During the process of division and pruning, avoid too many wounds, especially when dividing, try not to damage the root system, so as not to affect the normal growth of the mother plant after division.
