Gardenia, rose, azalea... they die every time I grow them? Learn this 1 trick and keep it open for 3 months!

Gardenia has buds but no flowers

Many flower lovers like to grow a pot of gardenia at home. The flowers are white and beautiful. However, as they grow them, they find that the gardenia buds are not blooming.

1. Insufficient light

The main reason why gardenias have buds but do not bloom is insufficient light. The gardenia should be immediately placed on a south balcony with sufficient sunlight to bask in the sun.

2. Lack of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers

During the flowering period, phosphorus and potassium elements can promote the growth and opening of flower buds. During the bud formation and flowering period of gardenia, apply organic liquid fertilizer mainly containing phosphorus, such as cake fertilizer water, twice a week.

Gardenia buds falling

Many flower lovers have also reported that the flower buds were growing well, but why did they suddenly start to fall off?

1. Overwatering

Although gardenia likes moisture, it must not be watered every day, otherwise it will easily accumulate water and cause root rot. You can spray water on the leaves frequently, but do not spray it on the flower buds, otherwise the buds will fall off immediately!

2. Too little nutrients

When there is too little phosphorus and potassium fertilizer in the soil, gardenia is prone to having fewer flower buds or even falling off. During the flowering period, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers should be applied to promote flowering, such as potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution, and less nitrogen fertilizer should be applied.

Gardenia yellow leaves

Yellowing leaves of gardenia is a problem that most flower lovers will encounter when caring for gardenia. This is also a question that flower lovers often ask Huahua in the background. Today, Huahua will give everyone a unified answer.

1. Soil alkalinization

Gardenia prefers acidic soil. Once the soil becomes alkaline, the leaves will turn yellow. You can add a few drops of white vinegar when watering to help alleviate salinization.

2. The pot soil is waterlogged and airtight

Gardenia likes loose and breathable soil. If the soil is too sticky and there is water accumulation in the pot, the roots will not be able to absorb water easily, causing root rot and yellow leaves. You can place the gardenia on a well-ventilated balcony or put some peanut shells at the bottom of the flowerpot.

Azalea not blooming

Friends who have raised rhododendrons should know that rhododendrons are not easy to raise, and it is common to encounter situations where rhododendrons only grow leaves but do not bloom.

1. Excessive nitrogen fertilizer

If there is too much nitrogen fertilizer in the potting soil during the flowering period of azalea, it will easily grow too tall, and only grow branches and leaves without forming flower buds. Before flowering, stop applying nitrogen fertilizer and apply more phosphorus and potassium fertilizer to promote the formation of flower buds.

2. The air humidity is too low

Rhododendron likes a humid environment. Once the air humidity is not reached, the flower buds will easily fall off or even become difficult to form. When buds appear, water once a day and spray water on the surrounding ground frequently to increase air humidity.

Azalea dead leaves

Many flower lovers often ask Huahua in the background, why is the azalea lush and leafy when it is first bought, but starts to turn yellow and wither after a while?

1. The air is too dry

Rhododendron likes moisture and its leaves will easily wither once the air becomes dry. First, water the plant thoroughly using the immersion pot method, then cover the entire plant with a plastic bag and place it in a bright and ventilated place. Wait until the leaves stand upright and then remove the bag.

2. Soil alkalinization and airtightness

Azalea prefers acidic soil with good air permeability. Once water accumulates in the soil, the roots will easily rot and the leaves will wither. You can add pine needle soil to 1/3 of the volume of the potting soil to improve the salinity and alkalinity, and spread charcoal on the bottom of the pot to increase air permeability.

Yellowing rose leaves

Rose is called a "flowering machine". One branch can grow several flowers and blooms frequently, making it loved by many flower lovers. However, the leaves turned yellow before the flowers bloomed. What happened?

1. Improper watering

Too much or too little watering will cause yellow leaves of roses. The correct way to water is to water thoroughly when the soil in the pot becomes dry. Roses only need to be watered once every 5-7 days, and it would be best if there is rain.

2. Insufficient light

Roses like plenty of sunlight. If they don’t see light for a long time or the light time is short, the leaves will easily turn yellow and fall off. In spring, it is best to place roses outdoors or on a south-facing balcony with good light and ventilation.

Rose got powdery mildew

Powdery mildew is the problem that rose growers least want to encounter. Powdery mildew not only affects the appearance of the rose, but in severe cases it can also easily cause the leaves to turn yellow and affect the growth of the plant.

1. Heavy rain + strong sun

Roses that have been exposed to the sun after a heavy rain are prone to powdery mildew. You can spray them with garlic water and white vinegar twice a day for three consecutive days.

2. The soil in the pot is too dry

Dry potting soil and poor ventilation can easily cause powdery mildew. Avoid keeping the potting soil dry for a long time. Water the potting soil once you see it turn white, and water until water flows out from the bottom of the pot.

That’s all for Huahua’s answer today.
