How to save aloe vera root rot

How to save aloe vera root rot

1. Main reasons

(1) Too much watering: Aloe vera is afraid of waterlogging. If you water too much at one time or too frequently, it can easily lead to root rot.

(2) Caused by bacteria: If the watering method is scientific, then you can consider whether there are bacteria in the roots. If this is the reason, then disinfection is necessary during processing.

2. How to deal with it

(1) First, remove the plant from the pot and remove the soil around the roots. Use a sharp knife to trim away any rotten parts. Until the healthy stem, be sure to cut it thoroughly and don't leave any rotten parts, otherwise it will easily continue to rot and the area will become larger. After pruning, apply some wood ash for disinfection. After the wound has dried, continue to plant it in the pot. You can apply rooting hormone appropriately to accelerate rooting. Cover with plastic film and new roots will grow after about half a month.

(2) If you observe that the root rot is not particularly serious, you can leave it alone and just let it dry. However, pruning is generally recommended. Otherwise, it will easily lead to the expansion of the rotten part, making it difficult to deal with it.

(3) In addition, it is best to remove the four or five leaves at the bottom to reduce evaporation.

(4) Place the plant in a semi-shaded location with good ventilation to accelerate wound healing. Note that you should water less during this period.
