What to do if the gardenia buds turn black and fall off

What to do if the gardenia buds turn black and fall off

1. Excessive water intake

Once it enters the bud formation stage, you can no longer give it too much water. Firstly, too much water will accumulate in the soil, which will not only affect the roots' ability to absorb water and nutrients from the soil, but may also cause its roots to rot and damage it, causing the flower buds to turn black and fall off; secondly, once too much water is added, it is very likely to enter the growth period, the branches and leaves will grow in large quantities, consuming too much nutrients, causing the flower buds to turn black and fall off.

Solution: If the amount of water added is not too much, stop adding water first, and then use chopsticks to poke a few holes in the flower soil to help the water dissipate quickly; if the amount of water added is too much, you need to take it out of the flower soil completely, shake off the soil on the outside, cut off the rotten roots, and then plant it in new flower soil.

2. Excessive use of fertilizer

Many flower lovers think that it needs a lot of nutrients to bloom, so they give it a lot of fertilizer after its buds appear. In fact, this practice is very wrong, because flowering mainly consumes nutrients in the plant body, so we do not need additional fertilizer. On the contrary, adding fertilizer at this time can easily burn its roots and cause the flower buds to turn black and fall off.

Solution: If the situation is relatively minor, we can add a lot of water to the pot to wash away the remaining fertilizer in the soil, and then put some stones at the bottom of the pot to allow the water to evaporate; if the situation is more serious, we also need to replace it with new soil.

3. Repotting damages the roots

Some flower lovers know that they need to give it a flowerpot, but because they are not very skilled in repotting or repotting too many times, its roots are damaged in the process of repotting, which will also affect the plant's absorption of water and nutrients, causing the flower buds to turn black and fall off.

Solution: This is relatively easy to solve. First, we need to cut off some branches and leaves to reduce its water consumption, and then put it in a cool place for about 10 days. Do not expose it to the sun during this period, but it cannot be completely deprived of light. It is best to give it scattered light. Once new leaves grow out, you can take care of it normally.
