What to do if the purple-calyx spur flower does not bloom

What to do if the purple-calyx spur flower does not bloom

1. The cultivation soil is not suitable

It is afraid of waterlogging in the growing soil. If the plant does not bloom, it is very likely that the quality of the growing soil does not meet the standards. If it is not changed, leaves will fall off, and even affect the healthy growth of the plant. When choosing cultivation soil, you should choose sandy soil with loose texture and easy drainage.

You can choose two parts of loam, mix one part of peat soil and one part of sand to make cultivation soil for breeding. By the way, we can add some base fertilizer to increase its fertility when preparing the cultivation soil. If you use potting soil directly for planting, you can add a little sand to the potting soil to make it loose.

2. The temperature is not suitable

It has very low temperature requirements, but in special environments, unsuitable temperatures may still cause the plant to not bloom or have yellow leaves. Generally speaking, it can grow well in spring and autumn. However, a winter with extremely cold weather may cause the plants to stop growing, so a certain degree of warmth is needed.

3. Water and fertilizer supply is not suitable

This plant does not require much water or fertilizer, but if there are problems with water and fertilizer, it can easily cause the plant to not bloom. When the plants are just planted, the soil needs to be kept moist at all times and a thin layer of liquid fertilizer needs to be applied every ten days. After that, during the growing period, you can change to watering every 3-5 days. It does not need to be too frequent, and the demand for fertilizer is not high. It can be done once every one or two months. If it does not bloom, you can try increasing the nutrients in the potting soil and prevent excessive water supply from causing root hypoxia.

4. Unsuitable lighting

It has a relatively strong ability to adapt to the environment and can grow under various lighting conditions. However, if the light does not meet the standard for a long time, it is likely to cause the plant not to bloom, so supplementary light is needed to prevent affecting the normal growth of the plant. At the same time, under low temperature conditions, the light should be appropriately increased to ensure plant growth.

5. Nutrition is too scattered

Because this plant grows fast, pruning is necessary to prevent this from happening, and the first pruning should be after planting. You can also pinch the top of the plant to encourage more growth and branches. If it is not blooming, you can prune it appropriately.
