1. Diseases

1. Gray mold: This disease mainly harms the leaves of the plant. After becoming infected, spots will appear. If the humidity is relatively high, mold will also grow. It is necessary to avoid rain on normal days, and you can also spray Bordeaux liquid for prevention and control.

2. Brown spot disease: It will also harm the leaves of peony. Spots will appear on the back of the diseased leaves, and then turn yellow-brown. Generally, Zineb or Mancozeb is used for prevention and control.

3. Red spot disease: In the early stage of the disease, purple-brown spots will appear on the leaves, which will then gradually expand and eventually cause the leaves to burn. It can be controlled by using carbendazim or thiophanate-methyl.

4. Rust: This disease will cause powdery spots to appear on the leaves and cause the above-ground parts to die. It often occurs in April-June. Diseased plants need to be removed promptly to avoid cross-infection.

2. Pests

1. Chafer: There are many species of beetles that harm peony. The adults mainly eat leaves and flowers, while the larvae feed on its roots and can also cause root rot, so they need to be captured and eliminated in time.

2. Scale insects: Scale insects are also very common pests, and there are many types. Because it has a waxy shell on the surface, it is difficult to kill with pesticides and needs to be brushed off with a brush.

3. Aphids: Aphids usually cause harm in spring. They suck the sap from leaves, causing the diseased leaves to curl and affecting the photosynthesis of the plant. It is usually eliminated with drugs such as malathion emulsifiable concentrate and dichlorvos.
