Diseases and Pests of Euphorbia milii and Their Control

Diseases of Euphorbia milii

Euphorbia milii has few diseases and pests. It’s just that in the rainy season, there’s a lot of rain, the air humidity is high, and the surface of the potting soil is not clean, making it prone to root rot and stem rot.

Once rhizome rot is found, immediately irrigate the roots with pesticides. For stem rot, spray the stems with agricultural streptomycin or chloramphenicol. Whether the patient can be saved depends on when the disease is discovered. Early detection and treatment should be tried.

Prevention of diseases should be the main approach. During the rainy season, the plant can be moved to a place where it will not be exposed to rain. Pour out the accumulated water in the pot in time and keep the surface of the soil in the pot clean. You can spray disinfectant once a month and try to create a good environment for the plants. In addition, try not to apply fertilizer during the rainy season, which can effectively avoid the occurrence of diseases.

Pests of Euphorbia milii

The Euphorbia milii is covered with thorns, which seem to have built a natural protective film for it, and many insects dare not approach it. But those with smaller stature are not excluded. For example, scale insects and whiteflies. When the disease occurs, they will be densely distributed on the branches and leaves of the plant, looking disgusting.

The difficulty in removing insects from Euphorbia milii lies in the thorns. Some insects are distributed among the thorns, and it is easy to get hurt when wiping them with your hands. Therefore, it is recommended that you spray the pesticide directly, using cypermethrin or anthracene.
