Disease and Pest Control of Peony

Disease and Pest Control of Peony

Diseases

The first is "anthracnose", which is a fungal disease that can cause harm to many plants. In the early stages of the disease, small brown spots will appear on some parts of the stem, and the diseased parts may even sink and the edges may bulge. If the humidity in the environment is too high at this time, the spots will gradually increase and become larger, and some gel-like substances will be produced. In more serious cases, the entire stem or even the entire plant will rot. This disease is very common, especially during the rainy season. First, isolate the diseased plants, cut off the affected parts and burn them to avoid endangering other parts. Another method is to spray 800 times of 75% concentration of thiophanate-methyl solution or other suitable agents. In addition, pay attention to the amount of watering and do not let the environment around the plants be too humid to avoid creating conditions for the growth of this disease.

The second disease is called "stem rot". As the name suggests, it harms the stems. It will cause spots to appear near the stems, which will then become soft and rotten and lose water, leaving only a dry outer skin. Once a diseased plant is found, we must cut off the diseased tissue in time, disinfect the incision, then repot it and disinfect the soil with lime milk. In addition, we also need to control watering and pay attention to drainage.

Pests

The main pest we are talking about here is the "red spider". Its reproductive capacity is very strong, so the corresponding harm is also relatively large, especially in times of high temperature and little rain. To eliminate this pest, we can use 40% omethoate solution for spraying once a week, for a total of three times.
