Disease control of alpine banyan

Disease control of alpine banyan

Direct disease control

Most of the diseases of alpine banyan come from the leaves, such as powdery mildew, sooty mold, leaf spot, chlorosis, etc. When the disease occurs, small black or brown spots will appear on the leaves, or the leaves may curl and become uneven, or the leaves may turn yellow and dry, and may even directly cause the leaves to fall off. After confirming that it is leaf spot disease, the affected leaves should be cut off in time and then sprayed with medicine; if it is other diseases, you can directly spray with medicine. In severe cases, pruning or cutting should be carried out to prevent more branches and leaves from being damaged.

Control of diseases caused by insect pests

The main pests of mountain banyan are scale insects, which mainly suck the sap of the plant to survive. The plants eaten by them are prone to other diseases and their growth will be threatened. When discovered, it should be sprayed with medicine in time, and the more seriously damaged parts should be removed. If the insect pests cause other root diseases and they are serious, you need to change the pot and soil, cut off all the affected parts of the roots, spray some fungicide on the wounds, and try to clean the original soil on the roots when changing the soil.

Winter treatment

After the leaves fall in winter, all branches and leaves that have been infested by pests and diseases should be pruned away and cleaned up together. It is best to burn them all. After cleaning, the soil should be turned over to reduce the possibility of pests and diseases overwintering.

Try not to use the replaced soil. If you want to use it, first disinfect it and then expose it to the sun for a few days.
