Gray mold of Prunus armeniaca and its control

Botrytis cinerea

When gray mold occurs in the hanging bamboo plant, water-soaked yellow spots will first appear on the leaves, and then continue to expand into irregular large black-brown spots. In more serious cases, gray mold will also appear.

Gray mold disease of Prunus cinerea is mostly caused by a fungus called Botrytis cinerea. The conidia of the fungus extend from the sclerotium and gradually grow, infecting the leaves of Prunus cinerea, causing lesions and gray mold disease.

Conditions for the occurrence of gray mold disease in Prunus armeniaca

Gray mold can occur in hanging bamboo shrubs because the fungal spores that produce gray mold are spread through air and moisture, including wind, watering, rain and other channels. Basically, it is easy to occur when the humidity is high. Because under high humidity conditions, fungal spores are more likely to germinate and produce a large number of spores, causing the disease. Gray mold disease often occurs in spring and autumn when the conditions for the disease are suitable and in high humidity seasons.

Prevention and control methods of gray mold of hanging bamboo plum

To prevent the hanging bamboo plum from getting gray mold, pay attention to the following points. In winter and spring, the temperature is lower. In order to prevent the disease, control watering and reduce the surrounding humidity. If the hanging bamboo plum is found to be infected with gray mold, the infected leaves can be directly cut off and disposed of. During daily maintenance, pay attention to ventilation to reduce the occurrence of the disease.

If the gray mold disease is serious, you can spray pesticides for treatment, such as 80 times diluted 50% cypermethrin wettable powder or 800 times diluted 28% botrytis cinerea wettable powder.
