Goldfinger Diseases and Prevention Methods

Goldfinger Diseases and Prevention Methods

Goldfinger Diseases: Anthracnose

symptom

Anthracnose is the main disease of golden finger. When the disease occurs, pink sticky substance will appear on the bulb, causing the stem nodes or bulbs to rot and dry up, affecting the normal growth of the plant. The diseased area is sunken, while the edges are slightly raised. There are small black spots on the upper part, which are arranged in a slightly ring-like pattern. If the air is humid, the small balls will gradually rot and finally dry up and die.

Prevention and treatment methods

The soil for planting golden fingers should be calcareous sandy soil to facilitate ventilation. Before planting, disinfect the soil with 1% formalin or 40 times formaldehyde solution. It is also necessary to ensure that the indoor environment is well ventilated to avoid creating a humid environment that is conducive to the growth of fungi.

Use water and fertilizer reasonably and water in moderation, especially in rainy seasons. Not only should you use less water, but you should also pay attention to loosening the soil to prevent moisture. During the vigorous growth period from June to September, apply fully decomposed cake fertilizer water or fish water every 15 to 20 days, and it can also be mixed with a small amount of phosphorus fertilizer.

Once a plant is found to be diseased, the diseased part should be removed promptly and isolated from other plants.

Spray pesticides. Spray 50% thiophanate-methyl 600-1000 times diluted or 75% chlorothalonil 800 times diluted once every 10 days at the early stage of the disease or before the disease.

Goldfinger Diseases: Stem Rot

symptom

Stem rot is mainly serious harm to young plants. When the disease occurs, dark gray spots that look like water stains will appear on the surface, but the spherical surface covered with thorns is difficult to observe. The plant gradually becomes soft and rotten, and in the later stage the stem flesh will rot and lose water, leaving only the dry outer skin.

There are many factors that lead to the disease of golden finger, such as the use of unsterilized farmland soil, low temperature frost damage, insect pests, etc. The disease comes quickly, spreads quickly, and causes great harm. If not treated in time, it will cause the plant to wilt and die.

Prevention and treatment methods

①Soil disinfection: It is best to use disinfected soil for potting. If there is no condition to spray disinfectant, you can expose it directly to the sun.

② Water at the right time and in the right amount, pay attention to drainage, and apply more potassium fertilizer to enhance the plant's disease resistance.

③ If diseased plants are found, cut them off immediately and apply charcoal powder to the cut to disinfect it. It is best to repot them and trim the roots. Then spray the fungicide and spray 1:1:100 Bordeaux liquid on the base of the plant once every half a month for 2 to 3 times.
