Common diseases and prevention methods of golden sedge

Diseases of Golden Sedge: Sooty Disease

symptom

Sooty mold is also known as sooty disease. Since sooty mold does not cause the direct death of succulents in a short period of time like black rot, it is often easily overlooked. In the early stage, a small number of black spots will appear on the leaves, which are difficult to observe. In the later stage, the black spots will increase and form brown spots. Then they will become more and more serious. They are very contagious and will soon spread to the whole plant and even other plants.

Prevention and treatment methods

The key to preventing soot disease is prevention. During routine maintenance, strengthen ventilation, prevent and control pests, and avoid excessive wounds on the leaves.

Once brown spots are found on the leaves of the plant, immediately move the plant away and maintain it separately, remove the diseased leaves, and spray fungicides. 70% of the plants can recover. If the disease is serious, it will be too late to remedy the situation.

Diseases of Golden Sedge: Black Rot

symptom

Black rot of succulent plants is very common, and its main symptoms are discoloration, softening, blackening and mushy leaves. Black rot is usually caused by overwatering. When the humidity is high, the fungus will inevitably run rampant, so ventilation is very important. Black rot is the cancer of succulents. Once it occurs, there is little chance of cure.

Prevention and treatment methods

Change the environment. If black rot occurs on golden spathiphyllum, you should reflect on whether the environment is too hot or humid. Only by improving the environment in time can recovery be possible.

Spray fungicides such as carbendazim, thiophanate-methyl, etc. in time, once every 3 to 5 days until the disease is completely cured.
