Ranunculus disease control methods

Ranunculus disease control methods

Ranunculus sclerotiorum

disease

White rot is mainly caused by poor ventilation conditions of the plants, low soil nutrients, infection with pathogens, and when the disease occurs, water-soaked, light brown, irregular spots will appear at the base of the stems in the early stage, followed by white, silky hyphae that gradually entangle into rapeseed-like sclerotia.

Prevention and treatment methods

Strengthen management, pay attention to ventilation and light transmission, control watering appropriately and avoid excessive moisture in the soil. Repot and change the soil in time to prevent the soil from becoming compacted.

Check promptly and remove diseased plants immediately if found. At the same time, the soil should be disinfected in time. You can choose to irrigate the roots with carbendazim solution to control the development of the disease.

Penicillium spp.

disease

The disease mainly occurs during the storage period of bulbs and rarely occurs during the growing period. Infected tubers will appear dark brown or black. When the disease is severe, a large number of penicillin conidia grow on the surface of the tubers. If the tubers are damaged during harvest or are stored in a poorly ventilated area with high air humidity, they are prone to penicillium mold disease, which can cause serious damage.

Prevention and treatment methods

During the processes of harvesting, storage, and division propagation, try to minimize damage and protect the tubers intact. The tubers must be thoroughly disinfected before storage.

During storage, pay attention to adjusting the temperature of the storage place, increasing ventilation and reducing humidity. Check regularly and clean out tubers infected with Penicillium promptly to avoid infection of other tubers as much as possible.

Ranunculus virus disease

disease

When the plant is sick, the leaves become wrinkled and uneven, showing mosaic, chlorotic spots, or the leaves shrink, become smaller, and become thicker. Affected flowers grow deformed, become smaller, or even fail to bloom. When the damage is serious, the diseased plants will be obviously stunted, shrunken and die.

Prevention and treatment methods

Strengthen cultivation management, apply fertilizer and water reasonably, pay attention to ventilation and light transmission, so that the plants can grow strong and improve disease resistance.

If you find damaged plants, clean them up immediately.

In the early stage of the disease, use 800 or 1000 times diluted 68% virus wettable powder and spray 3 to 5 times.

Ranunculus root rot

disease

During the growth period of the plant, if the soil is too sticky, too alkaline, or there is low temperature or waterlogging, it will cause root rot. When the roots are in an unfavorable environment, they will be infected by pathogens, causing the roots to rot and turn into dark brown or black. The stems and leaves above the ground will gradually turn yellow and die.

Prevention and treatment methods

During storage, in order to prevent the tubers from rotting, diseased tubers must be strictly removed, and then they are placed in a 2% potassium permanganate solution and soaked for 15 to 30 minutes, then taken out and stored after the tubers are dried, and attention should be paid to ventilation and dehumidification in the storage place.

Before planting, the culture soil and tubers should be thoroughly disinfected and planted shallowly. During the growth period, pay attention to water control and loosen the soil in time.

Ranunculus mosaic disease

symptom

Chlorotic spots appear on the leaves, and in severe cases, the plant growth and development are poor.

Prevention and treatment methods

In many cases, mosaic disease is caused by insect pests, so spray insecticides in time to control aphids.

During the pruning process, pay attention to the disinfection of tools, and treat the wound in time after pruning to avoid bacterial infection. Remove diseased leaves immediately if found.
