What are scale insects? Can they crawl onto humans?

1. What are scale insects?

Scale insects are one of the main pests of garden plants. There are about 600 species in my country, and six of them are more serious, namely, the mulberry white shield scale, the water wood scale, the round shield scale, the Korean hairy ball scale, the white wax scale, and the coleus white shield scale. Plants infected with this pest will have yellow leaves and fall off, and in severe cases the entire plant may die.

2. Will it climb onto people?

Under natural circumstances, its activity is relatively small, its own transmission ability is limited, and its distribution is also restricted, so it will not crawl onto humans. However, it can be spread through external forces, such as wind, animal transport, etc. But as long as you change clothes frequently, it won't be a big problem and it won't harm your health, so don't worry too much.

3. How to prevent and treat

It is quite harmful to plants, so preventive measures must be taken when it is discovered. Normally, we should strengthen management, apply fertilizer regularly, and enhance disease resistance. In autumn, overwintering nymphs on branches can be manually brushed off to reduce damage to plants in spring. If you find a large number of pests, you must spray pesticides. The medicine you can choose is Aphidicide, which can be sprayed after dilution. The effect will be better if you spray it twice in a row. In the later stage, the maintenance environment must be changed to allow the plants to be ventilated more. In addition, natural enemies can also be used for prevention and control.
