Hops Disease and Pest Control

Hops Disease and Pest Control

Downy Mildew

This disease basically occurs under conditions of relatively high temperature and high humidity. It is also more likely to occur under conditions of relatively high humidity. The main symptom is that at the beginning, a translucent substance similar to oil stains will appear on the back of the leaves. This situation will gradually spread to the entire leaf. If not treated in time, the leaf will slowly curl down and eventually turn black.

Once you find a diseased plant, you must try to remove the infected plant to avoid spreading the disease to healthy branches and leaves. The remaining branches and leaves cannot be ignored and must be sprayed with appropriate pesticides.

snails

This is most likely to occur when hops are still young seedlings. They mainly harm the leaves and newly grown stems, and may make holes in the tender stems or even bite them off directly. This kind of pest basically comes out at night, so it can be caught and killed based on this characteristic. After killing it, it does not need to be thrown away, but can be used as feed or fertilizer. Timely weeding can also prevent the emergence of this pest. If you want to use medicine, you can choose a certain dose of lime water.

Moth

This is another common pest. The leaves of the infected plants will change color, and the growth of the whole plant will naturally be worse than before, so the number of flowers will decrease. They appear in the morning and evening. When the weather is good, it basically hides on the back of the leaves. The best time for prevention and control is May and August. When you find pests and diseases, you can directly spray them with medicine once a week for three consecutive times.
