What to do if the roots of the fortune tree become soft

What to do if the roots of the fortune tree become soft

1. Cut off rotten roots

If the roots of the money tree become soft, it means they are rotten. In order to prevent the rot from further spreading, the rotten roots need to be cut off in time. First, remove the plant from the pot, remove some of the old soil, and check the roots. Cut off old roots, rotten roots, etc. to prevent further deterioration.

2. Disinfection and replanting

After cutting off the rotten roots, replant the money tree as soon as possible. Disinfection is required before replanting. You can use carbendazim or potassium permanganate, dilute it thoroughly and then soak the roots of the plants. After disinfection, place the plant in a cool place and wait for it to dry before replanting. When replanting, use a new pot and new soil to prevent bacteria in the old soil from continuing to damage the roots.

3. Moderate light

In order for the money tree to recover quickly, it needs to be given a certain amount of light. However, the plants must not be exposed to direct sunlight during the seedling growth period, otherwise the plants will easily die. It can be exposed to moderate light in the early morning or evening to allow it to photosynthesize.

4. Less water and less fertilizer

There are many reasons why the roots of money trees rot, but it is usually caused by overwatering or applying too concentrated fertilizer. Since it grows well in a humid environment, it should be watered sufficiently, but there should be no stagnant water. Before using the fertilizer, it must be fully diluted, which will also be more conducive to root absorption. Doing this can effectively prevent root rot again.
