Why are the tips of Michelia leaves turning yellow?

The reason why the leaf tips of Michelia scoparia are burnt

Cold

Many flowers can grow well in the natural environment, but when they are moved home, they become much more fragile due to the change in environment. In fact, potted Michelia is not cold-resistant and needs to be moved indoors in time in late autumn. If it is slightly frostbitten, the tips of the old leaves will turn yellow.

The environment is too dry

Michelia is mostly kept indoors. Due to the dry indoor environment, poor ventilation, and wet soil in the pot, the leaves will burn.

Overfertilization

Fertilization also requires some attention. Excessive fertilization or application of uncomposted "raw fertilizer" will cause root burns, weakened absorption and transportation functions, and the leaves will turn yellow from the tip due to lack of nutrients.

Solution to yellowing leaf tips of Michelia

Avoid bright light

Avoid excessively strong sunlight in the summer. In spring and autumn, place the plant in front of a south-facing window or on a balcony so that it receives sufficient light. In summer, place the plant under a shade shed or move it indoors for maintenance.

Replace the soil

It must be planted in deep, fertile, slightly acidic soil. If the soil is too alkaline, it will cause phosphorus in the soil. Deficiency of elements such as iron or sulfur. To prevent incomplete development of chlorophyll and yellowing of leaves, you can use a culture soil prepared with leaf mold, garden soil, rice husk ash and manure in a ratio of 2:2:1:1 .

Proper fertilization

Provides nutrients and iron required for plant growth. During the growth period of the plant, apply 30% decomposed cake fertilizer water once every 20 days and add 1/4 ferrous sulfate. Keep the potting soil moist. During the plant's growing season in spring and summer, water it 1-2 times a day.
