How to deal with root rot of white orchid

How to deal with root rot of white orchid

1. Proper watering

Its roots are fleshy. If you water it too much, the roots will rot. If it is too dry, it will wither. Therefore, even if you water it too little, it cannot be too much. You should water it thoroughly every time. Generally speaking, spring is the season when it sprouts, and it should be watered once every two or three days to keep the soil moist. In summer, it enters a period of vigorous growth and needs to be watered once every morning and evening. If there is heavy rain, it needs to be sheltered from the rain. If there is water accumulation in the pot, it needs to be poured out in time. Starting from autumn, you should gradually reduce the frequency of watering and decide whether watering is needed based on the condition of the soil in the pot. If the surface of the soil turns white, it needs watering, generally once a week or so. After winter, you must prevent the soil from being too wet. If you find that the leaves turn red and the treetops turn brown, it means that the roots are not breathing well and there is water accumulation. At this time, you need to loosen the soil and ventilate.

2. Reduce high-concentration salt fertilizers

If it is harmed by high concentrations of salt fertilizers, its leaves will curl, new leaves will dry out, roots will rot, and it may even wither and die. This is because animal manure is often used as fertilizer, or too much fertilizer such as potassium chloride is used. There are too many chloride ions, which accumulate in the soil. The solution concentration in the soil becomes high, and problems occur in the root growth of the plant. When using animal manure, it should be fully decomposed first and mixed evenly with the soil. Do not use only chemical fertilizers. If the solution concentration in the soil is too high, water more and increase the dosage and frequency of watering.

3. Avoid root burn

May and June or July and August every year are its vigorous growth periods. You need to add fertilizer every fifteen days and a little nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizer every twenty days, about 2-6 grams. If you accidentally apply fertilizer directly to the roots of the white orchid, the soil around the roots will be too fertile and will burn the roots, causing them to rot. You should use a shovel to make a few small grooves in the pot, sprinkle the fertilizer in, then cover it with soil and water it. The fertilizer will penetrate into the roots along with the water. Don't add fertilizer in winter. From the time new shoots appear until June, add fertilizer every three or four days, and from July to September, add fertilizer once a week.
