How to deal with root rot in desert rose

How to deal with root rot in desert rose

1. Caused by excessive watering

We can clearly see from its name that it is extremely drought-resistant, so when growing it, there is no need to water it too much. If you water it too much, it will easily cause its roots to rot.

Solution: Once the roots are rotten, remove them from the soil, check them carefully, cut off the rotten and blackened roots, then plant them in new soil and control watering. If there is not enough flower soil, you can put the old flower soil in the sun to evaporate the moisture, and then mix it with a small amount of new flower soil.

2. Caused by the flower soil not being loose and breathable

We all know that any plant breathes through its roots. If the sand and gravel you choose for your flower soil are too heavy and the density is too high, it will directly affect its roots and make it impossible for the roots to breathe normally. If you encounter humid weather in spring, it is not surprising that the roots will rot.

Solution: At this time, we must also remove the rotten roots in time and replace the flower soil. Generally, it is best to mix peat soil, refined stone, nutrient soil in equal proportions, and then apply appropriate phosphorus fertilizer to ensure its normal growth.

3. Caused by misuse of chicken manure

When raising it, if you accidentally apply chicken manure to it, it will easily become moldy and produce bacteria. The bacteria will then flow to the roots, and when it encounters moisture, it will cause root rot.

Solution: In this case, we also need to remove the broken roots and change the soil. After that, we must pay attention to the use of flower fertilizers and stop using chicken manure.
