The reason why the leaves of the fiddle-leaf fig droop and how to save it

The reason why the leaves of the fiddle-leaf fig droop and how to save it

1. Reasons for leaf drooping

1. Soil compaction: If the soil used for cultivation is severely compacted and has poor air permeability, the leaves will droop over time.

2. Lack of fertility: A lot of nutrients are consumed during the growth period, so thin fertilizers should be applied frequently. Only with sufficient nutrients can the plant grow vigorously. If no fertilizer is applied for a long time, it will affect growth and cause leaves to droop.

3. Improper watering: If no water is given for a long time during management, the soil will lack water and the leaves will easily droop. In severe cases, they will turn yellow and fall off. However, if you water too frequently or too much each time, water will accumulate and the roots will not be able to breathe normally. Over time, the roots will be suffocated and the leaves will droop.

2. How to rescue

1. Change the potting soil: It likes loose, breathable and well-drained soil. You can mix leaf mold, garden soil and river sand to make nutrient soil. Change the soil as soon as possible after preparing it, and it will recover soon.

2. Apply fertilizer in moderation: Fertilize regularly during the growing season, once every one or two weeks, using nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium compound fertilizer. It is recommended to dilute the fertilizer with clean water before applying it so that the plant can absorb it faster. Stop fertilizing in winter.

3. Water in moderation: If there is a lack of water, replenish water as soon as possible to moisten the soil. Water thoroughly when it becomes dry in the later stage and sprinkle water around frequently. If there is a large amount of water accumulation, move it to a ventilated place, loosen the soil to evaporate the water, and change the pot if necessary to avoid worsening root rot.
