Soil problem. Plants all need to breathe, and roots are no exception. However, if the soil in which the plants are planted has poor air permeability and poor drainage, the roots of the plants themselves will not be able to breathe. Poor drainage may cause the soil in the pot to be too moist or even water to accumulate in the pot. If the soil used for planting moon rabbit ears has poor air permeability, the roots may rot.

Flower pot problem. If you choose a flower pot with poor air permeability and drainage, it may easily cause root rot of the moon rabbit ears.

Watering problem. Watering has always been a problem. Moon Rabbit Ears does not like moisture and is not resistant to waterlogging. If you water it too much, water will accumulate in the pot, and the soil in the pot will be too moist, which will cause root rot. However, too little watering and too dry soil in the pot can also cause leaves to fall off and roots to rot.

Fertilization problem. Moon rabbit ears actually don’t need too much fertilizer. Applying too much fertilizer will burn the seedlings. In severe cases, it can cause root rot, yellowing of branches and leaves, and even rot of the entire plant.

Choose the soil. Choose soil that is well-ventilated and well-drained. It is usually loose sandy soil, and you can add some vermiculite, coconut shells, etc. to improve the drainage capacity of the soil.

Repot. Choose ceramic pots or clay pots, and put some coconut shells or large light stones at the bottom of the pot as a drainage layer.

Watering. Control the water, water it once a week or so, and water it again when it is completely dry. It also needs strong light, otherwise the roots will easily rot.

Control fertilization. Remember to apply small amounts of fertilizer, and when applying fertilizer, avoid letting it stick to the stems and leaves, which can cause plant necrosis.
