What is the reason for the yellowing of camellia leaves?

What is the reason for the yellowing of camellia leaves?

1. Too much light

Camellia is a long-day plant, but it is also a semi-shade flower. For this kind of plant, the light must be sufficient but not too strong, otherwise the leaves will turn yellow due to burns. During its growing period, place the plant in a semi-shaded environment and allow it to receive scattered light. In autumn, in order to promote the differentiation of flower buds, the daily light exposure time should be no less than 12 hours. In winter, the plant should also be exposed to light for a long time to avoid poor growth.

2. The temperature is too low

Except for a few varieties that are cold-resistant, most camellias are very afraid of cold. Once frozen, the development of the plants will be easily affected, causing the leaves to turn yellow. In winter, the plants should be placed in a warm place indoors in time, and the temperature should be kept between 10-15℃. If the temperature is lower than 5℃, a bag should be placed on the top of the plants to keep them warm.

3. Too much watering

Camellia likes moisture, but watering too much will affect the breathing of the roots and its absorption capacity, causing the leaves to turn yellow. When watering, you must pay attention to the amount of water. Don't water too much, and don't use tap water directly. Let it dry for two days and wait for the chlorine to evaporate before using it. If there is water accumulation in the potting soil, it needs to be drained immediately, maintain good ventilation, loosen the soil appropriately, and accelerate the evaporation of water.

4. Fertilizer is too concentrated

Although camellia likes fertilizer very much, if too much fertilizer is applied or the concentration of fertilizer used is too high, it will burn the roots of the plant, affect its development, and the leaves will turn yellow. In this case, the plant needs to be removed from the pot in time. After taking out the plant, remove the old soil at the roots, cut off the burned roots with scissors, spray it with carbendazim and place it in a cool place. Wait until the wound is dry before repotting it.
