Causes and treatments for yellow leaves of sunflowers

Causes and treatments for yellow leaves of sunflowers

1. Water accumulation in the basin

Reason: Sunflowers have a certain demand for water, but they cannot tolerate a humid environment. Once they are watered too much and exceed the root demand, water will accumulate in the pot, causing the soil in the pot to become moist and the roots to rot, and the leaves will turn yellow.

Measures: First find a way to drain the water in the potting soil. Do not let the roots be in an oxygen-deprived state. If rotten roots appear, they need to be cut off and new soil needs to be replaced if necessary.

2. Too much fertilizer

Reason: It can tolerate barrenness and does not require too much fertilizer. Once excessive fertilizer is applied or raw fertilizer is applied, the root system will not be able to bear it and will rot, and the transportation function will also be affected.

Measures: During the growing period, only apply fertilizer as appropriate. If too much fertilizer is applied, you can water it appropriately to dilute the fertilizer and allow the remaining fertilizer to flow out of the flower pot.

3. Natural Metabolism

Reason: Growth is a process. Yellowing of leaves may be normal metabolism, which leads to natural yellowing.

Measures: You don’t need to worry about this situation, just continue to maintain it, it will not affect the plant.

4. Infection with pests and diseases

Reason: It is easy to be attacked by diseases and pests in summer, which can also cause yellow spots on the leaves.

Measures: If kept indoors, good ventilation is required, and active prevention and control of diseases and pests are required.
