Does Metasequoia prefer shade or sun?

Does Metasequoia prefer shade or sun?

Metasequoia is easy to grow as long as the cultivation method is appropriate. Metasequoia likes to grow in warm, humid areas with cool summers and snowy but not cold winters. It has a certain degree of cold resistance and needs to be exposed to sunlight during its growth process.

Does Metasequoia like the sun?

Metasequoia is light-loving and has relatively high requirements for sunlight. Especially during its vigorous growth period, it must be guaranteed a certain amount of sunlight every day.

Metasequoia can bask in the sun in summer, but is afraid of excessive exposure to the sun. If burned, its cotyledons will curl. At this time, the tree needs to be shaded in time to ensure its growth.

Is Metasequoia shade-tolerant?

Metasequoia is not shade-tolerant. If planted in a shady environment, it will suffer from poor development. It is originally a sun-loving tree species, and without light it has no motivation to grow, so it will stop growing.

Metasequoia growth environment

Metasequoia has strict requirements on soil and is suitable for growing in loose, fertile, well-drained deep soil. It likes a cool environment, specifically between thirteen and twenty degrees. It does not like too high temperatures, generally not exceeding twenty-four degrees, which is the extreme high temperature it can tolerate. However, it has a certain cold resistance and can tolerate temperatures as low as minus eight degrees, but try not to keep it too low.

Metasequoia likes water and has a high demand for water. It likes humidity and has good waterlogging resistance. Wild Metasequoia is generally distributed in humid or waterlogged places. Therefore, sufficient water should be provided at ordinary times. Long-term drought is extremely unfavorable to its growth.
