How to care for money tree in winter

How to care for money tree in winter

1. Temperature control and cold protection

Money tree is not cold-resistant, so the first thing to pay attention to when caring for it in winter is the temperature. The temperature should be maintained above 10 degrees and not lower than 5 degrees, otherwise growth will be inhibited and frostbite may occur. The temperature must be kept between 8 and 10 degrees throughout the winter to be safe. In addition, if necessary, put it in a plastic bag and remove it after the temperature rises.

2. Reduce watering

In the low temperature environment of winter, its growth rate is relatively slow, it requires very little water, and the water loss is also slow, so the frequency of watering must be reduced. Don't water casually if the soil in the pot is not dry, and don't water it thoroughly if the soil is dry. Keeping it relatively dry is beneficial for the winter. In addition, pay attention to the water temperature and time when watering, and try to keep the water temperature close to the soil temperature. The time should be noon.

3. Get more sun

It likes a semi-shady growing environment, and the light in winter is very soft. It can be placed in a well-lit place indoors, such as on a south-facing windowsill or balcony. More sun exposure can allow the plant to accumulate a lot of nutrients and increase the temperature, which is also beneficial for wintering. If there is no light for a long time, many growth problems will occur.

4. Stop Fertilizer Treatment

Even if the temperature can be well controlled in winter, the plants can maintain normal growth without fertilization, and the nutrients contained in the soil are sufficient for their growth. If you add more fertilizer, it will be difficult for the plant to absorb it. Over time, it will burn the roots and cause yellowing and falling leaves.
