Angelica sinensis, which is also known as dried angelica, Han angelica tail, angelica song, and wild angelica, is a common medicinal material in China. It is grown in southwest China, Hubei and other places. So when is the right time to plant angelica seedlings? Let’s take a look below. 1. When is the best time to plant angelica seedlings? Generally speaking, in high-altitude areas with lower temperatures, late July and early August are suitable for sowing each year, while in low-altitude areas with slightly higher temperatures, mid-August to early September is suitable for sowing. This has a lot to do with the altitude climate. Angelica can be cultivated at an altitude of about 1500-3000 meters. Lower altitudes will affect the yield and the quality will also be poor. Angelica is relatively sensitive to temperature, and the best growth temperature is between 20-24 degrees. Maintaining this temperature range during the seedling stage can allow it to germinate quickly. 2. Angelica planting technology 1. Planting environment Angelica prefers a cool, humid and mild environment, and is particularly suitable for planting in high-altitude cold areas. It requires deep, loose, well-drained, fertile and humus-rich sandy loam. The suitable growth temperature is 15-25°C, and the suitable soil moisture content is around 25%. 2. Planting time Angelica seedlings are grown in high altitude areas in early to mid-June and in low altitude areas from mid-July to early August to ensure that the seedlings are no older than 110 days. 3. Soil When planting angelica, you need to choose land with fertile soil, deep soil layer and good permeability. For the pH of the soil, it is best to be between 6.0 and 7.0. 4. Fertilizer management Angelica requires sufficient nitrogen fertilizer and phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, but the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides should be moderate. Excessive chemical fertilizers and pesticides will have a negative impact on the growth of Angelica. After seedling raising, carry out multiple tillage and weeding, and apply fertilizer appropriately to ensure the effectiveness of the fertilizer and the correct amount used. 5. Watering and management Angelica needs sufficient water, but not too much water, so as not to affect the growth of the root system. During the growing period, water frequently to keep the soil moist. In the later stages of growth, reduce watering and allow the soil to dry out slightly for harvesting. 6. Pest and disease control Angelica may be attacked by pests and diseases, such as cutworms, powdery mildew, root rot, etc. Pests and diseases need to be detected and controlled in a timely manner to ensure the improvement of its yield and quality.
