When to plant the lucky tree and how to harvest the seeds of the lucky tree

When to plant the lucky tree and how to harvest the seeds of the lucky tree

1. Seed Harvesting

The fruiting period of the lucky tree is from October to December. Usually by the end of December, its capsule has cracked, and the seeds need to be picked after they are fully mature. Allow the fruit to dry so the seeds come out. Simply rub it to remove the membranous wings on its skin, then store it in a dry place.

2. Sowing time

The best time to sow the lucky tree is in spring. Although it can also be sown in autumn, it will have to go through a cold winter afterwards. The low temperature will inhibit its growth, and the plants will often grow poorly. The temperature is high and the sunlight is strong in summer, so the seedlings are prone to water loss or sunburn after sowing. Seeds sown in winter will not take root and germinate, and will have to wait until spring to develop.

3. Seed Soaking and Germination

Before preparing to sow the seeds for the lucky tree, you must first soak the seeds to germinate. Generally, the seeds need to be soaked for 3-4 hours, and then they need to be dried and then they can be sown. If the seeds are not germinated, the germination rate will be reduced, and they will be easier to grow after germination.

4. Pot soil preparation

The lucky tree grows best in loose and fertile soil, and its seeds are no exception. Generally, you should choose sandy loam with loose soil, but you can also prepare it yourself. Prepare garden soil, leaf mold, organic fertilizer and river sand, and mix the four in the ratio of 5:3:1:1. This kind of soil has good drainage, which is very helpful for the growth of seedlings.

5. Sowing and Seedling Raising

Sprinkle the germinated lucky tree seeds on the surface of the potting soil, then cover it with a thin layer of soil, water it appropriately to keep it moist, and wrap it with a layer of plastic film. After the seeds germinate, the film needs to be removed in time, and a shed needs to be built to provide shade. When 4 or 5 leaves grow, they can be potted.
