Red bean growth cycle

Red beans can be planted in spring and summer, with spring sowing in mid-to-late April and summer sowing around May-June. They should be sown when the temperature is stable at above 14°C. The plant is shade-loving, drought-tolerant and cold-resistant, and is suitable for growing in a cool, moist environment with fertile soil. The frost-free period of the planting site should be more than three months, and the plant's growth cycle ranges from 80 to 120 days.

Red bean varieties and origins

Generally speaking, there are only three varieties of red beans, namely, Abrus precatorius, Adzuki beans, and Red Bean Tree. Among them, Abrus precatorius is highly poisonous, so be sure not to eat it by mistake. In addition, there are cultivated varieties such as Jingnong No. 5, Longken Red Bean, and Baihong No. 5.

Red beans are native to tropical regions. Common producing areas in my country include Henan, Hebei, Shandong, Shanxi, Shaanxi and other provinces. The red beans in these regions are relatively famous, and the three northeastern provinces have the largest red bean planting areas.
