Sheep pasteurellosis is caused by Pasteurella multocida present in the respiratory tract of healthy sheep. When the sheep's resistance is weakened for some reason, it multiplies in large numbers and causes hemorrhagic inflammation of the sheep's respiratory mucosa and internal organs. Let's talk about the prevention and control measures for sheep pasteurellosis. 1. Clinical symptoms of sheep pasteurellosis The most acutely ill sheep have no special symptoms and die suddenly. Acute symptoms include weakness, cough, temperature rise above 41°C, difficulty breathing; viscous fluid discharge from the eyes and nose, which becomes purulent in the later stage; digestive disorders, green excrement, gradually turning dark and foul-smelling. 2. Post-mortem lesions of sheep pasteurellosis The most acute form is mucosal, serosa and visceral bleeding, slightly enlarged spleen, acute swelling of lymph nodes; acutely, the subcutaneous connective tissue in the front of the body sometimes shows bleeding and colloid infiltration. The head, respiratory tract and gastrointestinal mucosa become red and swollen, the lymph nodes are enlarged, and the cross-section is moist red. There are often small hemorrhages in the serosa and renal lymph nodes. Sometimes the lungs have dark brown-red areas of pneumonia. 3. Diagnosis of Pasteurellosis in Sheep The diagnosis is mainly based on the epidemic situation and clinical symptoms, and is more accurately diagnosed by laboratory testing. Samples of lung, liver, spleen and pleural fluid are stained with alkaline methylene blue. The smear can show small oval rods with dark staining at the two poles and lighter staining in the middle. 4. Prevention and control measures for sheep pasteurellosis 1. To prevent this disease, self-breeding and self-rearing are generally recommended. When introducing new species, they should be purchased from areas where the disease is not present, and should be quarantined for one month and vaccinated. 2. Rationalize feeding management and strengthen veterinary health management. 3. When this disease occurs, isolation, disinfection, emergency immunization and other measures should be taken in a timely manner. The dead sheep should be disinfected, buried deeply and disposed of harmlessly. Strengthen feeding management, eliminate accumulated feces in activity areas and sheds, and clean or spray the areas where sick animals move, pens, and utensils they have come into contact with with 1:400 Xinshen Antianduwei. Thoroughly disinfect excrement such as feces and urine with 20% bleach. Use Baidusai solution to clean utensils and spray disinfectant inside and outside the house, build fire walls to increase the temperature in the house, strengthen ventilation in the house, and prevent the sheep from eating feed covered with ice and snow. 4. For inoculation of healthy sheep and surrounding sheep flocks, wash off the pure Pasteurella colonies with physiological saline and add them to broth to continue to culture for 24 hours. Add 0.8% formaldehyde to inactivate the bacteria and culture for 12 hours. Then add aluminum gel to make a simple vaccine and vaccinate the entire flock urgently. 2 ml was injected subcutaneously in each sheep. During this period, sheep cannot be taken out or brought in to prevent the spread of the epidemic. That’s it |
