What to do if the leaves of velvet needles wither and fall off

The reason why the leaves of velvet needles wither and fall off

Frost needle leaves

Velvet needles like light and dry environment and are slightly cold-resistant. When the temperature drops below 5℃ in winter, the leaves will wither, growth will be restricted, and the leaves may even fall off at the touch of a finger, which is really heartbreaking.

Too much water in the needles

During the growth process of velvet needles, the water requirement is not very large. It is sufficient to water once every two weeks during the growing season, but the frequency and amount of watering should be reduced during the high temperatures in summer.

Too much water can easily cause the roots of the velvet needle to rot, which will directly lead to the withering and falling of the leaves.

What to do if the velvet needle leaves fall off

Insulation and water control

In winter, when the temperature drops, take measures to keep it warm and add a thermal insulation cover.

Excessive watering in spring, summer and autumn will cause leaf withering. Pay attention to water control and adjustment of the drainage performance of the potting soil. You can add some broken tiles to the bottom of the potting soil.

Use fallen needle leaves for leaf cuttings

You can try to use the fallen leaves to make leaf cuttings. Not only will it ease your heartache, but you may also be able to produce one or two extra basins of wool needles.

Prune dead leaves

Trim off the withered leaves and break off the leaves in poor condition to keep the stem of the entire plant in a healthy condition.
