Peach tree bud grafting time and method

1. Bud grafting time

When grafting peach trees, if you use the bud grafting method, you can choose to do it in July or August. If the grafting is done during this period, it is easier for it to survive. If the timing is not right, the grafting will easily fail.

2. Grafting method

1. When budding, it is best to choose a one-year-old seedling as the rootstock and a relatively high-quality branch as the scion. The selected scion should be strong enough and have full flower buds.

2. Prepare a sharp knife and ring the bud 1cm above and 1cm below the bud, going deep into the wood. Afterwards, make a vertical cut opposite the bud and then peel it off.

3. The scion should also be ring-barked to the same size, and then the buds peeled off the scion should be placed on the position of the rootstock and tied tightly with a clean plastic bag.

3. Notes

After grafting, when the grafted part has healed, the plastic bag needs to be removed in time, which is beneficial to its later growth.
