How to grow heart-leaf Hoya

How to grow heart-leaf Hoya

1. Maintenance methods

1. Substrate selection: It is afraid of waterlogging, so it is best to use fertile soil with good drainage and air permeability. You can choose sand, leaf mold and garden soil and mix them in a ratio of 1:2:2.

2. Light management: It prefers light. Under sufficient sunlight, the leaves can be bright green, the flowers can be delicate and beautiful, and the flowering period can be long. It is best to grow it in a bright place indoors, but the plant should also be avoided from direct exposure to strong light. If it is placed in a shady environment for a long time, the leaf color will become lighter, and the flowers will be fewer and less bright.

3. Water management: It is drought-resistant but afraid of waterlogging. Watering can be done once the soil in the pot is dry. Usually, you can spray water on the leaves of the plant to maintain the humidity of the environment and clean the dust on the leaves, which is conducive to full and thick leaves.

4. Temperature management: It likes a warm environment and is suitable for growing in an environment of 18℃-28℃. After mid-October each year, the suitable temperature is 10℃-14℃. The room temperature should be kept above 7℃ in winter. If the temperature is below 5℃, it will cause frost damage, causing the plants to fall leaves or even die.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Reproduction method: It can be propagated by layering or cuttings, with cuttings being the main method. Cuttings are usually carried out in late spring. Use sterilized tools to cut a ten-centimeter-long stem, apply rooting agent on the cut, and then proceed with cuttings. When cutting, the ambient temperature should be maintained at 20℃-25℃. It will take root after about eight to ten weeks of maintenance. After about two weeks, the roots will be well developed and can be transplanted.

2. Pruning method: It does not need to be pruned too frequently. Just pay attention to cutting off rotten leaves in time.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. Yellowing leaves: There are many reasons for the yellowing of leaves. Insufficient or excessive light, compaction of the potting soil and improper water and fertilizer management may all cause yellowing leaves, which requires symptomatic prevention and treatment.

2. Root rot: Excessively concentrated fertilizer or waterlogging in the pot soil will cause root rot of the plant. At ordinary times, you should pay attention to keeping the environment well ventilated and well-drained, and apply thin fertilizers frequently. If the plant has severe root rot, the entire plant should be dug out, the soil replaced, and the flowerpot disinfected.

IV. Other issues

1. Placement: Its leaves are heart-shaped, with beautiful leaf color and gorgeous flowers. It can be grown in a potted plant in a sunny place indoors and moved to a cool place in summer.

2. Flower language: Its flower language is to spread love.
