How to cultivate sweet mahogany

How to cultivate sweet mahogany

1. Breeding methods

1. Soil: Sweet mahogany has a strong adaptability to soil and grows better in loose, fertile and well-drained soil. It can also be planted in heavy clay soil and grow well with careful care.

2. Light: Sweet mahogany is suitable for growing in places with good light. However, in summer, it needs appropriate shade to avoid strong sunlight to prevent the leaves from burning and losing water. Insufficient light during the growing period will cause the plant to grow too tall and affect its flowering.

3. Watering: Sweet mahogany is relatively drought-resistant and very afraid of waterlogging. Do not water too much, if there is any stagnant water, drain it immediately. However, long-term drought is not conducive to its flowering, and the frequency of watering needs to be increased to ensure that the soil is moist.

4. Fertilization: Sweet mahogany has a high demand for fertilizer. Only with sufficient nutrients can it bloom continuously. And unlike many plants, it also needs to be fertilized during the flowering period to replenish nutrients in time.

2. Breeding techniques

Sweet mahogany is mostly propagated by cuttings. Although sowing can also be done, the growth cycle of cuttings is shorter and the survival rate is higher. If it is difficult to propagate more valuable varieties by cuttings, layering or grafting can be used for propagation.

3. Pest and disease control

1. Diseases: Common diseases include black spot, powdery mildew and so on. The diseased branches and leaves need to be removed and sprayed with carbendazim for prevention and control.

2. Pests: The main pests are scale insects, aphids, etc. Proper daily maintenance can reduce the chance of pests appearing.
