Grafting method and subsequent management of rose trees

Grafting method and subsequent management of rose trees

1. Grafting method

1. Time: The time for grafting varies in different regions. The areas south of the Yangtze River are from mid-April to late October. The climate north of the Yangtze River is relatively cold, so the time can be selected from mid-May to late September. Spring and autumn are the most suitable seasons.

2. Rootstock: It is best to choose wild rose as the rootstock for grafting. It has a well-developed root system and strong disease resistance, so the survival rate of grafting with it is higher.

3. Scion: The most commonly used bud grafting method is relatively simple to operate. First, select the scion, cut strong branches from the plant, take out the branch buds from the middle part, and cut from 1cm to 3cm above the bud.

4. Grafting: Choose a smoother side on the branch, cut it open and tilt it downward, being careful not to cut it off. Align the buds with this interface and put them in, then wrap them with a plastic bag.

2. Post-management

1. Pruning: In order to ensure the growth of the grafted buds, top the top side branch one week after grafting, which can promote the fullness of the plant.

2. Unbinding: When the new shoots grow to about 10-15cm, remove the plastic bag tied on them.

3. Water and fertilizer: After the plants take root, you can apply appropriate amounts of water and fertilizer to ensure the nutritional needs of the plants.
