How to propagate Christmas cactus in summer

How to propagate Christmas cactus in summer

1. Cutting method

1. Cuttings: Cut a cutting from a plant with good growth, about 3-7 nodes will be enough. Do not use leaves that are relatively dry and must not be infested with diseases or insects.

2. Treatment: In order to make it take root faster, it is best to soak it in carbendazim for about 20 minutes, take it out and dry it. If you have rooting powder at home, it is recommended to apply some rooting powder on the cut.

3. Prepare the soil: Prepare the soil for cuttings, and try to make it breathable and clean. If the soil is not suitable, it will affect the rooting of the branches and must be disinfected before use.

4. Cuttings: Carefully insert the processed cuttings into the soil and place them in a cool place with good air circulation. Keep the soil moist and the roots will grow in about a week.

2. Precautions

Because the temperature in summer is very high, the chance of leaves taking root is not very high. If possible, it is recommended that you carry out cutting propagation in spring and autumn. It not only takes root easily, but also grows well.
