How to grow elmleaf plum in spring

How to grow elmleaf plum in spring

1. Watering

The water demand of Prunus armeniaca is not too high, especially for mature plants, which only need to be watered once a week. However, young plants need to be watered two to three times a week, and the amount of watering needs to be slightly controlled, with the soil being completely moist but without water accumulation.

2. Lighting

It needs light, especially in the special period of spring, which is its growing season and requires more light than usual. The sunlight in early spring is relatively mild, allowing it to receive full-day sunlight. The sunlight in late spring is relatively strong, so the amount of sunlight needs to be controlled to about 8 hours. Normal sunlight is allowed in the morning and afternoon, but appropriate shade is needed at noon.

3. Temperature

It has extremely high requirements for temperature. Too high or too low will affect its growth and cause it to stop growing. The temperature range suitable for its growth is between 15 degrees and 25 degrees. The temperature in early spring is unstable and spring cold often occurs. If the temperature is too low, it needs to be moved to a warm place for maintenance. The temperature in late spring is relatively high. If the temperature exceeds 25 degrees, cooling measures must be taken.

4. Nutrients

The plant is relatively resistant to barrenness, but because spring is its vigorous growth period, appropriate fertilization is beneficial to its growth. When applying fertilizer, it should be diluted before use, and the frequency of fertilization is once every half a month.
