How to grow Begonia truncatum

How to grow Begonia truncatum

1. Breeding environment

1. Watering: The iron hibiscus has a certain degree of drought resistance, so the planting soil should not be too moist, otherwise the roots will rot and hinder its growth. Especially during the flowering period, you should water less, otherwise it will cause the flowers to fall off.

2. Temperature: It is best to provide it with a growth environment of 15-20℃. Relatively speaking, it is more afraid of cold, and the breeding temperature should not be lower than 10℃. If the temperature drops below 0℃ during overwintering, it will be frostbitten and may even die.

3. Fertilization: During the growth period of the plant, fertilizer should be applied every 15-20 days. The amount of fertilizer applied should not be too much, especially the amount of nitrogen fertilizer should be strictly controlled. Too much fertilizer will easily cause the plant to grow too tall. During the bud formation period of the plant, apply phosphorus and potassium fertilizers 1-2 times to help it bloom.

4. Light: It is suitable for growing in an environment with sufficient light intensity. It cannot be placed in a dark place for a long time, which will seriously affect its flowering. Pay attention to shade in midsummer, otherwise the plants will be burned.

2. Breeding Methods

It is usually done by cutting method. The sterilized substrate should be prepared in advance and it is best to do it during the growth period. Cut branches with 3-4 leaf nodes, apply a proper amount of wood ash on the cut, and then place it in the shade to dry. When the incision becomes dry, insert it into the substrate, water it thoroughly, and wait for about 2 months for it to take root.
