How to sow Lithops

How to sow Lithops

1. Sowing time

If you want to propagate Lithops by sowing, it is recommended to do it in April or May in spring. The temperature at this time is not too high or too low, so it is easier to germinate.

2. Prepare the substrate

It is very important to choose a suitable cultivation medium. You can use coal slag, river sand, Akadama, etc., all of which can be used to grow Lithops. Because its seeds are very small, it is best not to use soil with too large particles. The requirements for flower pots are very low, as long as they are clean enough, they can be used.

3. Planting

The potting soil and seeds must be disinfected before planting, otherwise the germination rate will be reduced, and the soil must be watered before planting. Use the broadcasting method to sow the seeds in the soil, but do not pile the seeds together as they will continue to grow. If they are too dense, it will affect air permeability.

4. Seeding and maintenance

After sowing, cover the flowerpot with a layer of glass and then place it in an environment of 22-26℃ for maintenance. It will germinate in about 5-7 days. After it grows into seedlings, it should be exposed to sunlight appropriately.
