How to grow purple-backed arrowroot

1. Breeding environment

1. Soil: When breeding, the soil should be loose, fertile, well-drained and slightly acidic. You can prepare it by mixing pond mud and peat with an appropriate amount of perlite, or by mixing leaf mold and perlite with an appropriate amount of base fertilizer.

2. Light: It is shade-tolerant, but also needs light and moisture. When caring for it, it is best to place it in a place with scattered light indoors, and be careful to avoid strong sunlight in summer, otherwise it will easily burn the plant and affect its growth.

3. Temperature: It likes a warm environment. The most suitable temperature for its maintenance is between 20-30 degrees. The temperature must be controlled in winter and should not be lower than 5 degrees, otherwise it will be frostbitten and unable to survive the winter.

4. Watering: Water frequently during the growing season to keep it moist, especially in summer, water three or four times a day and spray more water to cool down. However, you need to control the watering after the temperature drops in autumn. It is only necessary to water the plants once every two or three days, and water should not accumulate.

5. Fertilization: Fertilize thinly several times, once every two weeks during the growing season. Note that the concentration should be low, otherwise it will burn the plants. In addition, stop fertilizing in summer and winter as the plants will go dormant during these two seasons and will not need nutrients.

2. Common pests and diseases

If the maintenance method is improper or the environment is poor during the period of maintenance and management, it is easy to cause diseases and pests. For example, red spider mites, scale insects, white rot and leaf spot diseases, when they occur, will affect the appearance and growth, and must be controlled by spraying pesticides in time.
