How to grow potted crabapples

How to grow potted crabapples

1. Suitable potting soil

When caring for the plant, you need to use soil that is well-breathable and loose. You can mix it yourself with leaf mold and an appropriate amount of river sand. It is best to add a small amount of cake fertilizer to supplement nutrients. The flower pot should be determined according to the size of the plant. You should choose a suitable flower pot to provide more sufficient growth space.

2. Appropriate amount of water and fertilizer

Begonias are relatively drought-resistant, so watering is not needed too frequently. Water them once every three to five days in spring and autumn, water them more often in summer, and once every half a month in winter. Control watering when temperatures are low. Fertilize frequently during the growing season, once every ten days or so, and use well-rotted cake fertilizer.

3. Suitable temperature

Pay attention to the temperature during maintenance. It is best to give it an environment between 10-20 degrees. Too high or too low will hinder growth. Therefore, it should be placed indoors and the temperature controlled in winter. During the high temperatures in summer, you should ventilate and water more often to lower the temperature.

4. Adequate lighting

It likes light and should be placed in a place with good sunlight. It will bloom normally only when there is sufficient light. However, in the summer when the sun is strong, you should provide shade in time to avoid sunburn.

5. Prevention and control of pests and diseases

During maintenance and management, attention should be paid to diseases and pests, such as common brown star disease, leaf spot disease and sooty mold disease. When the disease occurs, it can be clearly observed on the leaves of the plant and it is necessary to spray pesticides in time to control them. In addition, there will be harm from aphids and scale insects, which need to be eliminated with DDT and dichlorvos.
