How to grow fishtail palm

How to grow fishtail palm

1. Soil preparation

The culture soil used must have good drainage. You can use humus soil or peat soil plus one third of river sand, and then add a little base fertilizer to mix it. This will meet the growth needs.

2. Lighting

Provide light according to the season. The sunlight is relatively strong in summer, so the plant should not be placed in direct sunlight. Half of the light should be blocked, otherwise the leaves will easily begin to turn yellow. You can also place it directly in a brightly lit area so that it can be exposed to sunlight. After the autumn and winter seasons, you can get more exposure to sunlight to ensure good lighting conditions.

3. Water and fertilizer management

During the growing season, which is from May to June, water should be added in time. Water can be applied twice a day to keep the soil in the pot moist. Fertilizer should also be applied regularly to ensure growth. After late autumn, because the growth rate slows down, you need to stop applying water and fertilizer. If you apply them at this time, it will affect the plants.

4. Temperature control

The suitable temperature for its growth is 25-35 degrees Celsius. It cannot withstand the cold and cannot adapt to lower temperatures. The wintering temperature needs to be kept above 10 degrees Celsius. If it is below 5 degrees Celsius, the plants will suffer from frost damage.
