How to grow the flower of smooth sailing? How to water?

The smooth sailing flower, also known as white palm and white heart lily, is a perennial herb belonging to the genus Heart lily of the Araceae family. Its leaves are bright green and its flowers are pure white and shaped like sails, hence the name "smooth sailing". This plant not only looks elegant, but also has a beautiful meaning. Let’s learn together how to grow the smooth sailing flower. How to water?

1. Lighting

The lucky charm plant is an indoor plant that likes a cool environment. In summer and early autumn, when the sun is strong and the temperature is high, you should avoid placing it in direct sunlight to prevent the leaves from being sunburned, causing them to dry out and turn yellow. It is best to place it in a bright and well-ventilated area indoors, ensuring about 60% sunlight.

A complete lack of light is also detrimental to its flowering and healthy growth. To keep the leaves vibrant and healthy, place it near a window or balcony to ensure good ventilation. If placed in a closed and unventilated room for a long time, the leaves may lose vitality, become dry and wilt.

2. Temperature

The lucky charm plant prefers warm and humid climatic conditions and is not suitable for cold environments. Therefore, in winter, it should be moved indoors or in a greenhouse, ensuring that the temperature does not drop below 10 degrees Celsius to avoid frostbite. It prefers higher temperatures, with the ideal growth temperature being around 20 degrees Celsius, which helps it grow quickly. In dry and hot seasons, in addition to regular watering, you should also use a sprayer to spray water on the leaves to maintain the air humidity and keep the leaves bright green and shiny. Watering should be done from above the plants.

3. Soil

Avoid using soil that is easily compacted or too sticky, and instead choose loose and breathable sandy soil. The recommended soil formula is a mixture of leaf mold, garden soil and river sand or perlite in a ratio of 2:2:1. This soil ratio is conducive to the healthy growth of roots and leaves.

4. Flower Pots

As for the choice of flower pots, they should not be too small to restrict their growth, nor too large to cause excessive moisture. A flower pot with a diameter of 20 to 30 cm is a suitable choice.

5. Water and fertilizer

Watering management for Anthurium is crucial, provided that the flowerpot is of appropriate size and the soil has good air permeability. It prefers a moist soil environment and also has high requirements for air humidity. When watering, wait until the soil surface becomes dry before watering, and make sure to water thoroughly to avoid moisture remaining only on the surface. During maintenance, use a sprayer regularly to provide additional humidity to the plants, but whether watering or spraying, ensure good ventilation conditions. If ventilation is poor, the leaves will easily turn black and rot, and the roots may also rot.

In terms of fertilization, fertilizers should be selected reasonably according to the growth stage of Anthurium. Spring is the period when white calla lilies grow leaves rapidly. At this time, fertilizers with high nitrogen content should be used to ensure that the plants can obtain enough nitrogen to promote the growth of new leaves, making the newly grown leaves large and shiny. As the plant enters the growth and flowering phase in summer and fall, a fertilizer with a high phosphorus content should be used while ensuring a balance of other essential elements to support its flowering and overall healthy growth.

Many flower lovers said that the leaves of the Lucky Flower they grow at home always turn yellow and they cannot take good care of it. In fact, it is related to the fact that they have not mastered the key points of maintenance. You can refer to the above content.
