How to grow palm trees (growing conditions, propagation and transplanting methods)

1. Planting method

When planting, choose a planting site close to a water source and the soil should be fertile, either sandy loam or clay loam. Apply base fertilizer and turn the soil to make beds 1.4 meters wide. Soak the seeds for two to three days before sowing, wipe off the wax on the outer layer, and wash them clean. The germination rate of seeds is relatively low, so plant enough. Use the row sowing method to sow the seeds into the soil and then cover them with a 2 cm thick layer of soil.

2. Growth conditions

It prefers a high humidity and high temperature environment to grow, and is cold, shade and drought resistant, but the temperature difference cannot be too large. During the growth period, it should be exposed to more sunlight, and the soil should be calcareous or acidic. In addition, it is afraid of strong winds, so if it is a young seedling, you must take care to protect it.

3. Breeding Methods

It is usually propagated by sowing and can reproduce on its own in its place of origin. However, the growth rate is slow and the germination rate is also low. The germination rate is usually only 40%, so you need to plant more seeds when sowing.

4. Transplanting Method

Be careful not to damage the root system when transplanting. Small seedlings can be transplanted without the original soil, but large seedlings must be transplanted with soil balls. Don't plant too deep, otherwise the heart will rot easily. In addition, when transplanting large seedlings, cut off half of the leaves to reduce water evaporation and facilitate survival.
