What are the techniques for growing peanuts to achieve high yields?

Peanuts are a popular food that can be eaten not only as a snack but also processed into a variety of products, such as cooking oil and peanut butter. Peanuts are rich in protein, oil, vitamins and minerals , and have high nutritional and economic value. So what are the techniques for growing peanuts to achieve high yields?

1. Planting time

Peanuts prefer warm climates and require a long frost-free period to mature. Both spring and fall are suitable for planting, but spring is more popular because the climate and soil moisture are more conducive to peanut growth. The specific planting time should be determined according to the local climate and variety. The spring sowing period in the north is usually from mid-to-late April to early May, and in the south it is from mid-to-late February to early March. Autumn sowing needs to be done about a month in advance, and attention should be paid to frost and drought prevention.

2. Site selection and land preparation

Peanuts grow best in loose, fertile, well-drained soil with a pH close to neutral. Deeply plow the land, apply 2000-3000 kg of farmyard manure or organic fertilizer , mix well and make ridges or dig trenches.

3. Seeding density

The sowing density affects the yield and quality. Generally, the sowing amount per mu is 10-15 kg, the hole spacing is 10-15 cm, and the row spacing is 40-50 cm.

4. Field management

Irrigation: Irrigate flexibly according to soil and climate conditions to keep the soil moist.

Fertilization: Combine base fertilizer and topdressing, and pay attention to the supplement of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium fertilizer and trace elements.

Intertillage and weeding: Carry out regularly to prevent weeds from affecting the growth of peanuts.

Soil cultivation: protect fruit needles and fruits, and promote fruit setting and ripening.

Pest and disease control: timely detection and treatment, using physical, chemical and biological control methods.

5. Harvest and storage

Observe the maturity, choose sunny weather to harvest, and pick the fruit after drying. Make sure the peanuts are fully dried and remove any broken nuts and impurities. Store in a dry, ventilated, cool, clean place and check and turn over regularly.

The above is an introduction to the planting techniques and key points of peanuts. Many links in peanut planting cannot be ignored. Only when they are all done well can high-quality output be obtained.
