When is the best time to transplant water lilies?

When is the best time to transplant water lilies?

Potted water lilies are transplanted in spring. The specific transplanting time is determined by the temperature. When the temperature reaches 10 degrees, it is the best time to transplant. Although the time is the same in different regions, the climate and temperature are different.

Water lily transplanting time

Water lilies prefer warm environments, are resistant to high temperatures but not cold. It is best to transplant them around March in spring when the climate is suitable, which can reduce damage to them. After planting, they will quickly adapt to the new environment and resume growth.

Water lily transplanting method

1. When transplanting water lilies, you should choose a suitable flowerpot with a diameter of more than 30 cm. This will allow the plant to fully stretch and grow larger leaves and flower buds. The most suitable soil is garden soil or pond soil. Before transplanting, you can put hoof pieces or broken bones at the bottom of the flowerpot as base fertilizer.

2. After planting the rhizomes of water lilies, you can cover them with a proper layer of field mud or river sand, pour an appropriate amount of water on them, and slowly wait for them to germinate. After that, you can immerse the potting soil in water. The water surface can be slightly higher than the soil surface to keep the water clean.

Management after transplanting water lilies

After transplanting the water lily, place it in a sunny and well-ventilated place for maintenance. This will allow it to adapt to the pot quickly. After it grows, you can carry out normal maintenance. As the leaves stretch and grow, you should gradually increase the amount of watering. During the vigorous growth period in summer, the water can be irrigated to a depth of up to 20 cm. Be careful not to submerge the leaves.
