How to grow chives so that they bloom

Flowering time of leek

Allium can bloom in spring, autumn and summer. Its specific flowering time is related to the climate environment and maintenance method at that time. After flowering, it can last from April to around September. The flowering time is very long, so good fertilizer and water management is required during this period.

How to grow and flower chives

1. Watering: Allium needs sufficient water environment at normal times. It is best to keep the soil moist. However, you need to reduce the water supply when it blooms, otherwise it will cause the flowers to fall and reduce the number of flowers.

2. Fertilization: When fertilizing the leek, the concentration must not be too high, otherwise it will cause root damage. However, when the flower buds are in the making, more fertilizers need to be applied to allow it to bloom more colorful flowers. Fertilization needs to be stopped after flowering.

3. Light: Allium is a light-loving plant, so it should be exposed to more sunlight in normal times. However, it should avoid direct sunlight in summer, otherwise it will affect the opening of the flowers. When the light is sufficient, the number of flowers blooming will be relatively large.

4. Temperature: Allium orchid has a strong adaptability and is relatively resistant to high temperatures and low temperatures. However, the most suitable temperature for its growth is around 15 degrees, so it is best to keep it indoors for maintenance in winter.
