When does gardenia bloom? Why does gardenia not bloom?

When does gardenia bloom? Why does gardenia not bloom?

1. When to open

Gardenia is widely distributed in most parts of my country. It usually blooms from May to August in summer, but the blooming time of flowers varies in different regions and is not fixed. The temperature in the southern region is higher and warmer. The heat in these areas is concentrated faster, and the flowering time will be earlier. Some can bloom as early as May. Due to geographical factors, the flowering time in the northern region is later, and some may not bloom until around August. Gardenia has a long viewing period. A single flower can be open for 3-4 days, and a whole plant of gardenia can be open for about a month. Under suitable environmental conditions, the flowering time will be extended.

2. Reasons for not blooming

1. Insufficient light: Insufficient light will affect flowering, causing the flowers to fail to bloom normally, so reasonable sunlight is needed.

2. No pruning: Not paying attention to pruning and shaping will result in the branches being too messy, consuming a lot of nutrients and making it difficult for the flowers to bloom. Usually, you can prune it reasonably according to the growth needs.

3. Unsuitable soil: Gardenia likes to grow in acidic soil. If alkaline soil is used, it will easily cause poor growth and the flowers will be difficult to bloom. Acidic substances need to be added regularly.

4. Lack of fertilizer: If no fertilizer is applied for a long time, the plant will not have nutrients, and there will be no nutrient support for flowering, which will also lead to failure to bloom. Reasonable fertilization is required, and phosphorus and potassium fertilizers should be added during the flowering period.
