Teachers and students of Tongliao University modified abandoned vehicles to remove snow. The snowplow is particularly eye-catching

Recently, Beijing, Inner Mongolia, Liaoning and other northern regions have seen continuous snowfall. On the campus of Tongliao Vocational College in Inner Mongolia, two uniquely shaped snowplows attracted the attention of many teachers and students.

They were modified by more than ten teachers and students from the school's Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering using scrapped vehicles and parts. On November 9, Liu Tianbo, the teacher in charge of the modification project, told Jimu News that it took about three weeks to modify the snowplows.

Liu Tianbo is the director of the Automobile Teaching and Research Section of Tongliao Vocational College. He said: In 2020, the snow in Tongliao caused the school to suspend classes. Teachers and students worked together to remove snow, which was a heavy workload. Considering that the school has abandoned cars for teaching purposes, the teachers in the department thought of converting the abandoned cars for snow removal.

After the school started in September this year, the idea of ​​modifying the car was approved. Then the teachers selected a jeep and an original school commuter car and purchased the corresponding assembly tools and parts. On November 5, the teachers and students finished modifying the car together. It took about three weeks from project implementation to completion. It happened that Tongliao had a heavy snowfall the next day, and the modified snowplow came in handy.

Teacher Liu Tianbo said that the project team included 9 students and 2 teachers. Some students participated in welding, while others did assembly, and all contributed their own efforts. They installed snow shovels on the jeeps to push snow, and used the commuter cars as snow rollers to clear snow on the road.

Teacher Liu said that the students who were able to drive drove one of the snowplows, while he and another teacher used the other. The students were praised by other teachers and students in the school and were very happy. Liu Tianbo believed that this practical project combined the skills and knowledge learned in daily teaching, which was of great help to the students.

Because there was a heavy snowfall in Tongliao last year, manual snow removal was quite hard, so we wanted to use the existing resources and knowledge to modify the snowplows. This provided some convenience for everyone and also tested the learning results in practice. The two modified snowplows were used for practical training and only removed snow on campus. Most of the students involved were majoring in automotive electronics technology.
