How long does it take for ginger to sprout?

Ginger likes warm and humid weather, and the suitable germination temperature is above 16°C. The general planting time is from late April to early May. It can be planted in mid-March in warm areas in the south or low-temperature valley areas.

Generally, spread the ginger seeds out to dry for 1-2 days, soak the seeds with chemicals to accelerate germination, then take them out, pile them up with loose, moist soil, and cover them with film. Keep the temperature at 20-30℃ and wait for 8-10 days for them to germinate.

Ginger germination time

After the ginger sprouts, water it appropriately and maintain sufficient light and moist soil. You can see the ginger sprouting in 20 to 30 days. After that, the ginger will enter the seedling stage, which takes about 60-70 days.

Ginger management after emergence

1. After ginger sprouts, it should not be exposed to direct sunlight. The light should be gradually increased, especially during the growth period of the seedlings. It should be placed in a bright place but not exposed to strong light for maintenance.

2. Ginger has poorly developed root system and poor drought and waterlogging resistance. Therefore, soil that is too dry or too wet will hinder the growth of ginger. So water it appropriately to keep the soil moist.

3. Ginger needs proper nutrients to grow. During the growth period, ginger needs to be weeded and fertilized to prevent weeds from competing for nutrients and affecting the normal growth of ginger.
